Estimator
Job Summary
We are currently seeking a qualified Estimator to join our team in Calgary this role you will support the development and delivery of capital cost estimates for projects and proposals across the engineering procurement and construction lifecycle.
You will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across the energy mining infrastructure nuclear and industrial sectors supporting estimate development cost analysis benchmarking risk assessment and estimate reporting within a collaborative EPC/EPCM environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare capital cost estimates for engineering procurement and construction services using established estimating practices procedures and tools.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from engineering drawings specifications and other technical documentation.
- Develop and apply unit rates labour installation hours productivity factors and other cost inputs.
- Assemble and validate pricing information for materials equipment labour subcontractors indirect costs and other direct costs.
- Support the development of discipline-specific unit rates crew-based pricing and production norms.
- Develop estimate basis documentation including assumptions exclusions qualifications and estimating methodologies.
- Assist with escalation analysis cash flow forecasting risk identification and contingency development.
- Prepare estimate reports summaries and supporting documentation and participate in estimate reviews to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineering procurement construction vendors and project teams to obtain estimate inputs and resolve scope gaps and overlaps.
- Research analyze and maintain cost quantity productivity and benchmarking data using estimating databases and software.
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of estimating databases standards procedures templates and tools.
- Maintain organized and auditable estimate records and supporting documentation.
- Support estimate benchmarking comparative cost analysis and historical cost data development.
- Assist with the alignment of estimate work breakdown structures budget structures and project coding frameworks.
- Support supplier subcontractor and project cost analysis activities.
- Provide estimating support for value engineering studies scope changes trends and other project or proposal requirements.
Qualifications :
- Degree in Engineering Engineering Technology Construction Management Quantity Surveying or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will also be considered.
- 3 to 5 years experience in estimating project controls construction procurement or a related EPC/EPCM environment.
- Knowledge of capital cost estimating methodologies estimate classifications and industrial construction practices.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications and technical documents and perform accurate quantity takeoffs.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and quantitative skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using estimating software databases and cost management tools.
- Understanding of labour productivity unit-rate development cost benchmarking and estimate risk concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
- Experience supporting projects in the energy mining infrastructure industrial nuclear or related sectors is considered an asset.
