About the Subscriptions Core Services Team

The Subscriptions Core Services team builds the high-scale asynchronous engines at the heart of Stripes recurring billing ecosystem. We manage hundreds of millions of complex financial relationships for global enterprises and provide the foundational infrastructure for Stripe Billinga business growing 73% year-over-year.

We work on hard technical problems in distributed systems where the work is fast-moving and the impact is direct. As AI compounds in importance were strategically re-architecting our foundational primitives for Enterprise and Agent Readinessbuilding for the next order of magnitude in scale and velocity.

What youll do

As the Engineering Manager for Subscriptions Core Services youll lead a team of high-performing engineers building platforms that other Stripe engineering teams rely on to ship products. Youll tackle some of the most complex distributed systems and data consistency challenges in fintech.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design processes and coach mentor and grow your team as they build innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across product design infrastructure and operations to drive alignment on projects and priorities.
• Own problems end-to-endmanaging complex systems processes and technologies while continuously improving efficiency and reliability. Youll steward technical risks around massive traffic spikes data consistency in distributed systems and system observability.
• Uphold high engineering standards ensure codebase consistency and champion best practices across your team.
• Partner with Stripes recruiting team to attract top engineering talent and build a diverse high-performing team.
• Support your engineers career growth by creating tailored development opportunities aligned to their goals.

Minimum Requirements

• 5 years of experience managing and growing engineering teams.
• Proven track record leading a team of 5 software engineers focused on building and shipping products at scale.
• Ability to empathize with users and advocate for exceptional user experiences.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a history of creatively tackling complex technical challenges.
• Experience thriving in cross-functional environments with rigorous thinking and effective decision-making.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and executing across multiple high-impact workstreams simultaneously.
• Commitment to fostering a supportive feedback-driven and high-expectations work environment.
• Technical depth to engage meaningfully with engineers on architecture and system design.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in billing payments or financial automation.
• Track record leading significant architectural migrations or system rewrites in a high-growth environment.
• Background in performance engineering or distributed systems.
