The successful candidate will be assigned to the National Assembly bureau in Quebec City.

Role

In this role you will operate portable mobile cameras and peripheral devices to create photography and visual effects through framing and original camera shots meeting and anticipating the program objectives alongside artistic dramatic and other intentions. You will also co-ordinate equipment setup and check all technical gear under your control.

Key Tasks:

• Develop and conceive photography and visual effects through framing and original camera shots to meet and anticipate program objectives as well as artistic dramatic and other intentions.
• Prepare transport set up adjust and operate portable mobile cameras and related audio equipment to shoot programs or program segments ensuring proper image composition and camera movement.
• Consult with and advise technical and production staff on the best methods to achieve technical and artistic results.
• Develop design and execute lighting and sound setups where applicable to meet production requirements while performing shooting duties.
• Connect equipment to remote transmission facilities as needed to enable live hits or to feed recordings.
• Selectively assemble images edit and send or save news and information program segments for future use.
• Provide shot and sequence lists identifying visual and technical quality.
• Operate two-way radio and mapping equipment to locate and cover breaking news.
• Review and apply technical plans and diagrams.
• Anticipate and secure necessary technical gear or other materials according to instructions or established practices so as to meet production requirements notifying key personnel of any irregularities.
• Co-ordinate equipment setup and pre-filming checks with all members of the technical and production teams.
• Co-ordinate and guide as needed the work of employees assigned to production as well as those preparing installing removing and handling technical material.
• Manage disk space and storage by archiving or deleting content associated with your work as required.
• Evaluate equipment performance as needed and draft summary reports.
• Maintain strict quality control over all technical outputs taking corrective action when established standards are not met.
• Perform immediate technical repairs during equipment failures to restore service quickly keeping relevant team members informed.
• Attend planning or production meetings as needed.
• Assist as needed in reviewing or developing operating methods and technical standards.
• Produce technical reports by recording information relevant to your assigned work and if applicable entering data into designated files and applying appropriate labels.
• Perform site surveys as needed to identify locations that meet production requirements.
• Report breakdowns or defects in equipment or material to designated leads.
• Transport staff to shooting locations according to production requirements.
• Prepare the documentation required to transport equipment during international travel.
• For travel outside Canada provide the required ATA Carnet to transport equipment check that it is complete and up to date and ensure it is checked and cleared by customs agencies; take all necessary steps with key personnel to renew the carnet.
• Operate all vehicle types required for travel or job-related tasks maintaining the appropriate valid drivers licence.
• Complete the appropriate forms and documents; share information verbally or in writing to ensure proper followup and to keep others informed.
• Familiarize other employees with their duties and work environment.
• Carry out as needed all or part of the duties of another job classification within an equivalent or lower salary group as well as other related duties.
  

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

• College diploma (DCS) in TV production and post-production techniques or a related field.
• Five (5) or more years experience ensuring a solid command of essential skills and knowledge required to develop and create photography and visual effects when shooting alone.

• Practical test.
• Interview.
