PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Diesel Service Attendants are responsible for moving fueling cleaning testing and performing basic repairs on locomotives in a fastpaced safetyfocused environment. This role requires strict adherence to regulatory and safety standards while working both independently and as part of a team.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined safety conscious and enjoys handson work in an outdoor setting across varying weather conditions. This position provides foundational experience with locomotive maintenance and serves as a strong entry point into CPKCs Locomotive Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship Program offering longterm career growth and technical development.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Refuel and sand locomotives while ensuring cab amenities are stocked for crew comfort
• Inspect and perform basic repairs on locomotives fuel tanks and cab equipment to maintain operational reliability
• Assess parts for reuse or replacement supporting cost-effective maintenance practices.
• Clean and service locomotive cabs including walls floors windows and toilets to uphold safety and hygiene standards
• Test cab electrical systems and safety devices set up cab brakes per operational requirements and complete all crew-to-crew documentation
• Perform additional duties as outlined in the collective agreement

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or general equivalency
• Valid drivers license
• Minimum 1 year experience working around heavy equipment
• Commercial drivers license preferred
• Available to work all types of shifts including nights weekends and holidays in all weather conditions
• Ability to pass the required written examinations read and understand safety instructions rules regulations and other written or printed material in English
• Proven dedication to safety and ability to complete work within guidelines/rules

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical vision hearing and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
