How youll make an impact

FCCs cyber security team helps protect the systems information and services that support Canadian agriculture and agri-food. As a Cyber Security Analyst youll play a key role in detecting and responding to cyber threats while contributing to incident response threat intelligence and the continuous improvement of FCCs security capabilities.

In this role youll monitor security events investigate potential threats analyze logs and security telemetry and help identify appropriate response actions. Youll work closely with cyber security colleagues and business partners to support timely detection investigation and mitigation of security risks.

What youll do

• Monitor security alerts logs events and information feeds to identify potential threats or anomalous activity
• Investigate and analyze cyber security events to determine cause impact and appropriate next steps
• Document and escalate incidents that require additional investigation analysis or response
• Review log files and security telemetry to distinguish between benign activity and potential threats
• Support the administration maintenance and testing of cyber defence systems and monitoring processes
• Contribute to threat intelligence incident response tool tuning security hardening initiatives and continuous improvement activities that strengthen FCCs cyber security operations

What youll bring to the team

Required qualifications:

• A bachelors degree in computer science engineering cyber security or a related discipline
• At least four years of related cyber security experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Experience in a cyber security operations security operations centre or similar environment
• Knowledge of network security methodologies cyber threats vulnerabilities and common attack techniques
• Experience using security event correlation monitoring or incident response tools to investigate alerts and events
• Ability to recognize categorize and analyze vulnerabilities anomalous activity and associated cyber security risks
• Strong analytical problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to work through varied scenarios and determine appropriate escalation paths
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to explain technical information in clear easy-to-understand language

Preferred qualifications:

• Exposure to one or more cyber security toolsets such as SIEM EDR DLP IDS/IPS firewalls IAM or PAM solutions

• Experience working in an operational technology IT support system administration networking help desk security operations or similar technical environment
• Familiarity with cyber security concepts such as incident response threat intelligence vulnerability management cyber forensics or penetration testing principles
• Exposure to cloud technologies and security practices
• Related cyber security certifications training coursework or designations
