About the Opportunity

  • Prepare fresh nutritious and delicious meals that enhance the dining experience and well-being of our residents.
  • Assists with preparation of food for special functions (e.g. catering theme dinners) to ensure service meets established standards;
  • Prepare meals according to established recipes menus and therapeutic dietary requirements while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
  • Reports any recipe shortages discrepancies or quality issues to the Executive Chef or supervisor in a timely manner;
  • Clean and sanitize cooking station daily; maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment such as ovens kettles mixers and others in order to maintain safety and sanitation in the kitchen to meet legislative and organizational standards; responsible for the clear and correct labeling of excess food;
  • Follows disposal procedures according to established waste management guidelines for organics paper plastics cans/bottles non-recyclable material etc;

About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement collaboration and accountability you bring:

  • Enjoys preparing high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Takes pride in food safety consistency and presentation
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Has previous cooking experience (1 year preferred)
  • A high-school diploma or a GED;
  • Current food handlers certificate (preferred);
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record check upon hire;
  • A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations services and care.
