Position: Construction Miner
Rotational Schedule: 14/14 11.5 hr shifts
Wage: $70 - $74 per hour
Reports to: Shift Boss
Location: Island Gold Dubreuilville Ontario

Reporting to the Shift Boss the Construction Miner is a skilled underground tradesperson responsible for building installing and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps a modern mine running safely and efficiently. Working as part of a coordinated crew the incumbent performs a broad range of underground construction tasks including ground support installation shotcrete application concrete work mine services and ventilation infrastructure in accordance with the Cementation Safety Management System (CSMS) approved standard work procedures project specifications and all applicable legislation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Underground Construction & Infrastructure
- Construct install and maintain underground infrastructure to design and specification including ore and waste handling systems conveyors overhead cranes underground shops bulkheads ventilation walls and doors refuge stations dams sumps and storage bays
- Apply shotcrete and perform concrete and cement work including forming placing and finishing.
- Install extend and maintain mine services including compressed air water and dewatering/pumping systems piping and associated fittings.
- Install and advance ventilation ducting and auxiliary fan installations to maintain effective airflow to the workplace.
- Perform cutting and burning rigging hoisting and material handling in support of construction activities.
- Read interpret and build to civil and construction drawings standard work procedures and project specifications.
Ground Control & Workplace Examination
- Conduct a thorough examination of the workplace at the start of each shift and continuously as work progresses checking ground conditions services and access before work begins.
- Scale loose ground and install ground support including bolts screen and strapping in accordance with the site ground control management plan.
- Operate hand-held pneumatic drills including jacklegs and stopers for ground support and construction drilling.
- Rehabilitate existing headings excavations and infrastructure as directed.
Cost Management & Forecasting Leadership
- Provide leadership and oversight of all project cost control activities.
- Ensure the integrity of project budgets forecasts and cost reports.
- Review and approve cost reports forecasts and trend analyses prior to internal and client submission.
- Lead cost variance analysis and ensure timely identification validation and escalation of cost risks and opportunities.
- Ensure cost forecasts accurately reflect scope changes productivity performance schedule impacts and commercial risks.
- Support the Project Manager in costrelated decisionmaking and executive reporting.
Equipment Operation & Care
- Operate rubber-tired underground mobile equipment as trained and authorized which may include LHD units scissor lifts boom trucks shotcrete sprayers and transmixers and other support vehicles.
- Complete documented pre-operational inspections on all equipment prior to use and ensure equipment remains adequately supplied with operating consumables throughout the shift.
- Remove from service and immediately report to the Shift Boss any equipment that is damaged defective or has an inoperative protection system; never operate equipment in that condition.
Health Safety & Environment
- Work in full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Ontario Regulation 854 (Mines and Mining Plants) or the applicable provincial or territorial equivalent the CSMS and all site- and client-specific requirements.
- Complete pre-task hazard assessments (JHAs) and workplace inspections and promptly report all hazards near misses and unsafe acts or conditions to the Shift Boss.
- Actively participate in the safety program including toolbox talks safety meetings workplace inspections and incident investigations as required.
- Correctly use inspect and maintain all personal protective equipment required for the work.
- Apply WHMIS knowledge in the handling of controlled products and know how to locate and use Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace at all times.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely and cooperatively with crew members to safely deliver the shift lineup maintaining the coordination and mutual support that quality underground construction demands.
- Communicate workplace conditions work progress and outstanding issues clearly to the Shift Boss and oncoming crew at shift change.
- Support and mentor less experienced crew members in safe work practices and quality workmanship.
- Treat all co-workers clients and community members with respect including respect for cultural differences across Cementations diverse project locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- Work is performed underground in physically demanding conditions that may include confined spaces work at heights variable temperatures humidity and noise.
- Positions are based at project sites that may be remote with rotational schedules and camp accommodations depending on the project.
- The incumbent must be able to meet all site access medical surveillance and respirator fit-testing requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No direct reports; works under the direction of the Shift Boss as part of the construction crew.
Education and Experience:
- Ontario Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core with specialty modules relevant to underground construction or the applicable provincial or territorial equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of underground mining or underground construction experience.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings civil prints and standard work procedures.
- A strong personal safety record and a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
Preferred / Considered a Strong Asset
- Additional Common Core specialty modules including shotcrete application concrete work or equipment operation.
- Trade skills such as carpentry pipefitting welding or cutting and burning.
- Rigging and hoisting training and overhead crane operator certification or equivalent documented training.
- Previous experience with an underground mining contractor on development or construction projects.
- Experience working at remote or fly-in/fly-out project sites.
- Standard First Aid/CPR certification.
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of the mining industry and of the OHSA and applicable mining regulations as they relate to the workplace.
- Versatile and adaptable with the ability to move between construction tasks as project priorities change.
- Able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic underground environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to give and receive clear direction in a production setting.
- Strong work ethic positive attitude and pride in delivering quality workmanship safely.
