Community Disability Services Worker

Lethbridge Family Services (LFS) is seeking a Community Disability Services Worker to join our team! This position will provide support in our DaCapo this role you will facilitate the development of skills and competencies to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities brain injuries and/or fetal alcohol spectrum disorders to pursue and achieve their goals by accessing meaningful community-based activities.

Community disability services workers:

support individuals to participate in meaningful community-based employment community and volunteer placements recreation and leisure and life skills activities
complete personal care routines which may include assistance with eating routines administering medications ostomy care and/or operating a mechanical lift
support people with day-to-day activities including individuals on the autism spectrum
promote healthy and active lifestyles
assist individuals with managing anxiety and problem solving
follow a fixed schedule and routine in a timely manner and
complete required documentation.

Required skills and qualifications:

high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in the field is an asset
reliable vehicle valid drivers license registration and insurance ($liability insurance)
physically able to safely support individuals in activities such as lifting and transferring
ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
strong communications in both verbal and written English and
ability to be flexible and adapt to changes.

All new employees of LFS must provide a police information check and vulnerable sector check dated not less than 90 days prior to the date of hire.

Hours: Temporary 3 months or upon the return of the incumbent 28-30 hours per week.
