Job Summary

The First Nation School Board (FNSB) was established in February 2022. Our main office is located in Whitehorse Yukon on the territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Taan Kwächän Council. FNSB serves and works in partnership withVuntut Gwitchin First Nation Liard First Nation Ross River Dena Council Champagne and Aishihik First Nation White River First Nation Taan Kwächän Council Kwanlin Dün First Nation Selkirk First Nation Carcross/Tagish First Nation and Kluane First Nationfor the schools and Learners on their territories.

Our approach to instruction programming and operations promotes reconciliation by being grounding in Yukon First Nations values of student-centered strengths-based and community-led. Board-run schools are forallYukon students.

For more information on the First Nation School Board please visit Numeracy Coach plays a key role in advancing the strategic priorities of the First Nation School Board (FNSB) by providing instructional leadership that enhances the quality and consistency of numeracy education across all FNSB schools. Grounded in FNSBs circular model and guided by Yukon First Nation Ways the role is founded on the belief that all students can develop strong mathematical understanding when educators are supported through collaborative culturally responsive and evidence-informed practices. Working in partnership with school leaders educators Local First Nations families and community partners the Numeracy Coach helps create learning environments that honour local First Nations knowledge perspectives and ways of learning while promoting equitable outcomes for all students.


Through coaching mentoring classroom support professional learning and collaborative inquiry the Numeracy Coach builds educator capacity to deliver high-quality numeracy instruction. The role supports the implementation of FNSB priorities by coaching on effective instructional practices using assessment data to inform teaching developing and sharing instructional resources and supporting school-based improvement initiatives. By fostering reflective practice strengthening instructional approaches and promoting continuous improvement in numeracy teaching and learning the Numeracy Coach contributes to increased student confidence achievement and engagement in mathematics while supporting the long-term success of FNSB learners.
