POSITION TITLE: Lab Technician (substitute from mid-August 2026 to mid-March 2027)

CLASSIFICATION/
RATE OF PAY: Classification IV per Schedule A of the collective agreement

DEPARTMENT: Chemistry & Biochemistry

HOURS OF WORK:Labs in session: M-Th 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm & F 11:00 am 7:00 pm
(12 weeks in Fall & 12 weeks Winter semesters)
Labs not in session: 9:00 am 5:00 pm

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The purpose of the Lab Technician position is to facilitate the continued operation of teaching labs by providing services that support Graduate Assistants / Teaching Assistants (GAs/TAs) students and faculty during the labs including training the GA/TAs who deliver the labs to the students.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have:
Three (3) year Science Technology College Diploma in a relevant field of study as determined by the Department
Two (2) years of experience working in a lab
Knowledge of and experience maintaining basic Scientific Instruments
The ability to be well organized accurate and have attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and prioritize within tight deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills are required in dealing with a broad range of diverse individuals including Students Faculty and Stoff in a professional manner
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word Excel) and Chemical programs such as CHEM Draw
Current CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain
