As Hatch continues to grow its presence in Northern Ontario we are seeking an experienced CAD Designer/Open Road Specialistto play a key role in delivering some of the regions most impactful transportation infrastructure projects. Based in Thunder Bay you will contribute to the planning design and delivery of complex highway and roadway projects while helping shape the future of transportation networks across Northern Ontario.

Recently Hatch was selected byMarten Falls First Nation as its engineering and project management partnerfor the transformativeMarten Falls Community Access Road a landmark Northern Ontario infrastructure project that will provide year-round access to the community for the first time while supporting economic development Indigenous partnership and future regional growth.
In this role youll have the opportunity to work on major MTO and municipal transportation projects alongside industry-leading professionals while mentoring the next generation of engineers and helping grow Hatchs transportation practice in Northwestern Ontario. Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain 3D corridor models alignments profiles cross-sections and surface models using Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
- Produce detailed design drawings and engineering deliverables for transportation roadways highways municipal infrastructure and site development projects.
- Prepare construction contract drawings quantities and design documentation.
- Support design coordination across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ensure drafting standards project specifications and quality requirements are consistently met.
- Perform design reviews and quality checks on CAD models and drawing packages.
- Assist with the development and implementation of CAD standards workflows and best practices.
- Support project teams during design development tendering and construction phases.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to resolve technical design challenges.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology Engineering Design and Drafting or a related discipline.
- 5 years of experience in civil municipal transportation or infrastructure design and drafting.
- Advanced proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
- Strong working knowledge of MicroStation.
- Experience developing roadway corridor models terrain models alignments profiles and cross-sections.
- Experience preparing detailed engineering and construction drawing packages.
- Understanding of transportation design standards and engineering drafting practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Ontario transportation or municipal infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with MTO standards and design practices.
- Experience with Bentley ProjectWise.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS platforms is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary consulting environment.
Pay range: $65000 to $94000
