Reporting to the Structural Engineering Specialist this position plays a key role in supporting the safe effective and innovative design of bridge structures across Albertas provincial highway network. The Bridge Engineer establishes and maintains structural engineering standards while ensuring technical knowledge is effectively captured and shared across the organization and with external partners.
The main responsibilities of this role include:
Develop and Maintain Structural Engineering Standards
Contribute to the development implementation and maintenance of structural design standards procedures and guidelines for highway bridges and related structures.
Support updates to key documents such as Bridge Structures Design Criteria Bridge Load Evaluation Manual and Bridge Culvert Design Guidelines.
Assist in creating and maintaining standard and typical detail drawings used in bridge design projects.
Capture and Transfer Technical Knowledge
Continuously build technical expertise through research training conferences and committee participation.
Capture emerging engineering knowledge and best practices to support continuous improvement.
Share technical knowledge with internal staff and external consultants through meetings workshops training sessions and other forums.
