What you will be doing:
- Lead mentor coach and inspire a team of culinary professionals while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Support the Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine in the daily operation of Botanist.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Maintain consistency in food quality presentation and portion control.
- Assist with menu development seasonal features and special event menus.
- Monitor food costs labour costs and kitchen productivity while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper ordering receiving inventory control and waste management.
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety sanitation and cleanliness in accordance with HACCP and health regulations.
- Collaborate with the Front of House team to deliver seamless service and exceptional guest experiences.
- Assist with scheduling training onboarding and performance management of culinary colleagues.
- Participate in recruitment and selection of new culinary talent.
- Promote a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Step into the Chef de Cuisines responsibilities in their absence as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Your experience and skills include:
- Previous leadership experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high-volume upscale restaurant.
- Fine dining experience is required.
- Strong culinary knowledge with a passion for innovation and seasonal ingredients.
- Excellent leadership coaching and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional quality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Sound understanding of food cost management inventory control and labour management.
- Valid Food Safe Level 1 certification (Level 2 is considered an asset).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings weekends and holidays.
