Position Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA) to develop implement and evaluate a new behaviour therapy model within ambulatory clinics at Holland Bloorview. The RBA will partner with clinical teams collaborative practice leads operational leaders as well as clients and families to assess their behaviour support needs to create models of service that promote effective innovative and trauma-informed behaviour services across ambulatory care. Working within a Learning Health System the RBA will implement service within care teams as well as to clients and families evaluate service effectiveness across several domains and adjust services as necessary.

Please note that this is a 12-month contract position.

Behaviour Analyst

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uses best practices in Applied Behaviour Analyst to collaboratively design implement and evaluate an innovative approach to behaviour therapy for a broad range of clients and families across ambulatory care
  • Using a transdiagnostic approach design a behaviour therapy care model that supports the strategic priority of providing needs-based care to clients and families across ambulatory services at Holland Bloorview
  • Partner and collaborate with clinical teams collaborative practice leaders operational leaders clients and families to inform care delivery approaches within a needs-based care framework
  • Builds strong rapport with clients and families to understand their values to effectively collaborate and formulate individualized goals
  • Ensures all behaviour assessment and treatment plans are trauma informed and focus on safety client and family dignity and rapport building
  • Complete behaviour assessments using relevant evidence-based tools including functional behaviour assessments and preference assessments
  • Design behaviour treatment plans that build skills which support the reduction of interfering-behaviour within clinician mediated and/or caregiver mediated services.
  • Makes data driven decisions to amend treatment plans in consultation with clients families and therapy team.
  • Responsive to the changing needs of clients and families and demonstrates flexibility to adapt treatment plans and goals as necessary
  • Partners with families and ambulatory therapy teams to provide education and coaching to implement strategies and generalize skills at home within therapy sessions and across the community
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other services agencies etc.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with current literature issues and trends of practice
  • Participates in regular quality improvement activities to further refine clinical practice equitable and efficient service for clients and families
  • Shares new knowledge and best practices with colleagues students and other professionals within the organization professional body and community
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advances a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices

Qualifications

  • Experienced Registered Behaviour Analyst in good standing with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario
  • A minimum of 5 years working as a Registered Behaviour Analyst/Board Certified Behaviour Analyst
  • Strong knowledge and experience supporting children and youth with multiple physical and neurodevelopmental conditions acquired brain injuries and mental health conditions
  • Experience working as a Behaviour Analyst within a variety of settings and/or a variety of service modalities
  • Extensive clinical experience including a minimum of two years providing behaviour analytic services to children and youth with varying abilities who engage in interfering behaviours including aggression self-injury property destruction etc.
  • Experience and/or training in program design implementation and evaluation is a strong asset
  • Ability to train and clinically supervise RBTs/Behaviour Therapists with a minimum of three years experience doing so
  • Extensive experience providing caregiver coaching to implement behaviour analytic strategies across environments
  • Extensive experience providing consultation to caregivers clinical teams and community members
  • Demonstrated knowledge in trauma-informed ABA behaviour assessments and best practices for treatment
  • Knowledge and experience with Practical Functional Analysis and Skills Based Treatment is considered an asset
  • Ability to supervise staff and students working towards their BCBA certification is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and communicate effectively with clients families and members of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Experience in an inpatient setting is considered an asset
  • Demonstrates flexibility and co-operation in dealing with change
  • Other duties as assigned
