Associate Director, Student Academic Affairs

The Associate Director of Student Academic Affairs plays a critical role in the delivery of service and supports to students. This position leads Student Academic Affairs units through an informed understanding of evidence-informed practices student-ready approaches related to academic integrity appeals processes learning support and academic success programming while applying evolving frameworks that balance accountability procedural fairness holistic student development and academic success within higher education environments.

The role fosters collaborative problem solving with instructors Department Heads School Directors and leaders across the Students Division in responding to student academic conduct matters complaints and appeals related to student learning journey policies ensuring fair and consistent process and alignment with UFVs vision mission and values.

• Masters degree in an applicable field from a recognized institution required or equivalent.
• Five (5) years of experience working in student education and support areas; preference for experience in academic integrity learning strategy academic advising or student conduct.
• Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a unionized setting.
• Experience working within academic structures including academic teaching and educator roles consulting with academic partners on shared initiatives navigating academic governance policies and decision-making processes.
• Recent training in administrative fairness processes investigations and decision making.
• Demonstrated experience in project management or coordination of complex caseloads involving multiple priorities and timelines.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of student development theory and emerging practices in student learning and academic success.
• Ability to execute and assess strategic direction.
• Advanced understanding and application of EDI and Indigenization principles.
• Evidence of a strong commitment to the ethical and professional standards (FOIPPA regulations) of providing service to students
• Demonstrated experience in budget monitoring and reporting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and experience working with student information systems (e.g. Banner).
• Exceptional problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated change management skills and the ability to innovate.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills.
• Ability to exercise initiative use sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
• Demonstrated collaborative inclusive relational approach to working with others.
