Arena Attendant Casual

The City of Prince Albert is seeking to fill up to four (4) casual positions of Arena Attendant. This role under the direction of the Arena Manager plays a key role in ensuring the safe clean and efficient operation of the Citys Arenas while providing excellent customer service to patrons.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance and operation duties required in the normal operation of arenas and grounds.

• Ice maintenance including resurfacing edging and repairing ice surfaces.

• Operate and perform minor maintenance in buildings ice resurfacing equipment (ie Zamboni) boards glass nets and other facility components as required.

• Perform and record daily ice plant readings weekly air quality and building safety checks.

• Assist with set up and take down of equipment for events rentals and special programs.

• Monitor the security of the facilities.

• Required to determine if electrical refrigeration and other mechanical systems are operating satisfactorily.

• Provide information to patrons regarding schedules rules and facility services ensuring a warm welcome and inclusive environment for all facility users.

• Address customer concerns and escalate issues as needed.

• Perform daily janitorial duties to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the facilities including dressing rooms washrooms lobbies and spectator areas.

• Conduct routine inspections to identify hazards or maintenance needs and report issues to supervisor.

• Monitor maintain and follow all safety standards and enforce facility rules and regulations as per the Occupational Health & Safety Act Regulations workplace safety procedures and municipal policies.

• Respond to emergencies provide first aid when necessary and document incidents appropriately.

• Will be required to work shiftwork.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Knowledge Technical Skills and Abilities

• Understanding of arena ice maintenance and general recreation facility upkeep.

• Knowledge of WHMIS Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and municipal policies having ability to identify and address safety hazards equipment malfunctions or cleanliness issues.

• Basic understanding of ice resurfacing techniques.

• Previous ice resurfacing experience is an asset.

• Familiarity with First Aid CPR AED use and emergency response protocols.

• Understanding how to interact professionally with patrons enforce rules and handle complaints.

• Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with staff supervisors and the public.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Capability to perform manual labour lift heavy objects and work in varying temperatures.

• Ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues and respond effectively to emergencies.

• Good organizational skills and accuracy when documenting inspections incidents and maintenance records.

• Ability to operate and maintain ice resurfacers edger and other facility-related equipment and install ice and perform ice maintenance.

Qualifications

• Grade 12

• Valid Drivers License

Special Conditions

• Must successfully complete and maintain WHMIS certification

• Criminal Record check required

• May be required to obtain First Aid
