We are seeking an ambitious Area Director of Sales to lead sales activity and revenue growth across multiple properties in North East Calgary.
This role is based at the property level leading the Sales and Catering team across two flagship hotels the Hilton Garden Inn Calgary Airport and the Sheraton Cavalier Calgary with responsibility for driving revenue growth expanding the client base and executing sales initiatives across both locations.
With flexible event space for a range of group types capacity for up to 400 guests and amenities including restaurants a waterpark and fitness facilities these properties offer strong growth potential.

FUNCTION: As a member of the Executive Committee the Director of Sales plans & oversees Business Development and Direct Sales efforts of multiple properties including achievement of targeted room revenue and sales mix acting as a vital link between corporate strategy and on-the-ground performance driving bookings for group travel corporate accounts and events
QUALIFICATIONS:
Lead business development across both hotels by shaping and executing short & long term sales strategies including annual Sales & Marketing Plans and expense budgets.
Lead coach & support the Sales & Catering teams to deliver strong operational sales activity and market segment results.
Lead sales meetings training sessions and other team meetings as needed.
Represent the hotels at client events trade shows community events brand initiatives and industry meetings; travel as required
Identify and maximize opportunities to grow market share and outperform the competitive set with a focus on exceeding RevPAR index targets.
Build and maintain revenue growth plans that support profit goals including monthly sales action plans and annual corporate RFP strategy.
Maintain strong knowledge of market trends competitors customers and regional corporate association and group segments.
Drive direct selling performance for the Sales & Catering teams including prospecting through phone outreach outside sales calls site inspections virtual meetings and written communication.
Support revenue management through monthly forecasting and corporate account and group rate strategies.
Execute hotel marketing strategies across Hilton and Marriott brand platforms social media and related channels.
Promote a safe work environment by supporting the hotels health and safety program reviewing procedures with associates and monitoring compliance.
Support accident and injury investigations and follow through on corrective actions.
Perform other related duties as required.

Job Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Sales & Marketing Hotel Management or a related field.
At least 5 years of sales & marketing experience including 3 years in a senior leadership role; multi-brand experience is an asset.
Proven ability to build lead and retain a high-performing team.
Strong communication presentation and negotiation skills.
Strong knowledge of the sales cycle account acquisition and account growth.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate insights from marketing performance group pace STR and brand reports.
Demonstrated success in strategic planning and execution both independently and in team environments.
Valid drivers licence access to a vehicle and ability to travel.
Proven success in driving RevPAR index growth in a competitive market.
Strong financial acumen including forecasting budgeting and goal setting.
Digital marketing expertise across brand platforms Cvent social media and related tools
