Job Description

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of assigned payrolls while ensuring compliance with company policies collective agreements and applicable legislation. This role serves as a key contributor within the payroll team supporting complex payroll functions reconciliations issue resolution and special initiatives. The Payroll Analyst partners closely with HR site leadership and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality payroll services and an exceptional employee experience.

This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Prepare balance and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy and completeness.

• Audit payroll changes and updates to maintain data integrity and compliance.

• Process earnings deductions and statutory withholdings in accordance with company policies collective agreements and payroll legislation.

• Calculate complex earnings components including retroactive pay holiday pay vacation pay and accruals employee reimbursements benefits pensions union dues and paid leaves.

• Perform regular vacation accrual reconciliations and validate vacation balances in accordance with collective agreement language company policy and employment standards legislation.

• Investigate payroll discrepancies conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

• Complete payroll system testing and maintain supporting documentation.

• Reconcile and process third-party remittances and payments.

• Provide payroll guidance and responsive support to employees HR Business Partners and site leaders.

• Contribute to special projects process improvements and continuous enhancement initiatives.
