Position SummaryÂ
The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) seeks an exceptional AI Scientist to help advance the development evaluation and responsible deployment of AI across cardiovascular care research and operations. The PMCC is a core University Health Network (UHN) Program dedicated to innovation discovery and the responsible adoption of advanced digital and AI technologies to improve patient outcomes and system performance. This position offers the chance to help shape how the newest advances in AI are applied responsibly and effectively to the management of cardiovascular disease in a world-class academic environment. The successful candidate will have access to rich clinical datasets outstanding local and international collaborators advanced infrastructure and the opportunity to generate work with meaningful scientific and patient impact. Â
The AI Scientist will play a leading role in the design development evaluation and deployment of AI-enabled tools and systems across the PMCC. The successful candidate will contribute to the creation of agentic AI systems that support complex multi-step clinical research and operational workflows identify opportunities to deploy and adapt existing AI models foundation models and decision-support tools in real-world environments and develop AI-enabled research analytics and workflow tools that strengthen research productivity operational efficiency and clinical innovation. Â

DutiesÂ
- Design develop and evaluate agentic AI systems that coordinate multi-step clinical research and operational workflows with appropriate human oversight safety controls and auditability.Â
- Identify opportunities to deploy adapt and integrate existing AI models foundation models and decision-support tools into PMCC clinical research and operational environments.Â
- Develop AI-enabled research analytics and workflow tools to support cohort discovery data extraction knowledge synthesis study feasibility assessment outcomes analysis and investigator productivity.Â
- Collaborate with clinical and research teams to integrate AI tools into secure scalable and sustainable workflows.Â
- Evaluate AI tools in real-world settings including technical performance workflow impact fairness safety usability clinician and researcher adoption and operational value.Â
- Contribute to scholarly activity through publications presentations and collaborative research initiatives. Â
Qualifications :
- PhD or equivalent degrees in AI ML computer science biomedical informatics engineering data science or a related field.Â
- 3-5 years closely related experience OR combination of education experience and demonstrated ability that is recognized as equivalent.
- Strong track record of academic achievement and scholarship in AI ML or related computational disciplines.Â
- Demonstrated expertise in the development adaptation or evaluation of advanced AI methods.Â
- Experience translating technical innovation into applied tools systems or workflows in healthcare or biomedical research.Â
- Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary environment.Â
- Experience in clinical AI digital health cardiovascular data science or healthcare operations preferred.
- Experience with human-in-the-loop or agentic AI systems foundation models large language models or advanced decision-support tools preferred.
- Experience in research workflow automation AI-enabled analytics or the prospective evaluation and deployment of AI tools in practice preferred.
- Knowledge of responsible AI principles including fairness transparency governance and safety preferred.
