Job Summary

The Accounting Officer is responsible in the co-ordination and maintenance of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers; monthly preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and other related accounting functions. The Accounting Officer reports to the Finance Manager and will work closely with other members of the Finance team as well as managers within the organization residents and family members. The incumbent will provide services to all Actionmarguerite sites and applicable financial services contracts.

Service and Assignment:Finance
Starting Date: ASAP
Shift and Hours of Work: 1.0 FTE - full-time days currently 08:30-16:45
Pay Scale: As per established salary scale
Specifications:Assignment and hours of work are subject to change at any time as per operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Commerce (.) or a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) with a specialization in accounting and/or enrollment into the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) and/or an equivalent combination of formal education and related experience;
  • Minimum two years public sector accounting experience preferably in a health environment;
  • Demonstrated experience in preparation of financial statements and analysis; and
  • High comfort level with technology and solid working knowledge of Excel and Great Plains Dynamics and Business Central.

Abilities and Skills

  • Ability to communicate verbal and written in both official languages (French and English) is required;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal relationship and communication skills with residents families and co-workers;
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize investigate and analyze problems;
  • Must have initiative and judgment to organize prioritize workload and maintain flow of work;
  • Demonstrates responsibility for and accurately handles the details associated with ones work; is conscientious about accuracy;
  • Ability to adapt readily to a changing environment and respond with initiative;
  • Must be in good physical and mental health;
  • Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory employment record including attendance; and
  • Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.
This position is designated bilingual (French/English). All staff are hired for the may hold more than one position in different Actionmarguerite facilities where the sum total of hours does not exceed 1.0 full-time equivalence.
