Job Description
As theAccountant supporting Global Partnerships you will be a key Finance partner to one of MLSEs dynamic revenue-generating business groups. You will combine strong accounting fundamentals with commercial curiosity to support thefinancial managementof MLSEs partnership portfolio helping ensure partnership activity is recorded accurately reported effectively and understood by business leaders.Working closely with Global Partnerships Finance FP&A and other cross-functional teams you will develop a strong understanding of partnership agreements and business drivers and help translate complex commercial arrangements intoaccurateaccounting and meaningful financial reporting.
Building on the core responsibilities of theAccountantroleincluding month-end journal entries accruals reconciliations monthly reporting and financial analysisthis role elevates the focus onbusiness partnership contract economics revenue and expense recognition and actionable financial insight.
Please note that due to changing priorities for the business learning opportunities or volume the client group supported may switch however the key responsibilities will remain the same.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Own key accounting activities for Global Partnerships including month-end journal entries accruals revenue and expense recognition account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Develop a strong understanding of partnership agreements and commercial terms ensuring financial activity is recorded accurately completely andin accordance withapplicable accounting policies and contractual arrangements.
Analyze monthly financial results and partnership activityidentifyingtrends variances risks opportunities and unusual items requiring further investigation.
Prepare and enhance monthly reporting for Global Partnerships providing clear concise commentary that connects financial results to underlying business activity and commercial drivers.
Serve as a trusted day-to-day Finance partnerto Global Partnerships proactively supporting financial questions providing guidance and helping stakeholders understand the financial implications of business decisions.
Partner with FP&A on budgeting and forecasting providing accountingexpertise historical insights and an understanding of partnership economics to supportaccuratefinancial outlooks and planning.
Support the financial lifecycle of partnership agreements collaborating with stakeholders to understand contract structures amendments renewals activations and other changes that mayimpactaccounting or financial reporting.
Maintain strong balance sheet governance completing reconciliations and analysis while proactivelyidentifyingand resolving outstanding or aged items.
Strengthen financial controls and processesbyidentifyingopportunities to improve accuracy efficiency scalability and transparency across Global Partnerships accounting and reporting.
Collaborate cross-functionallywith Finance FP&A Global Partnerships Legal Accounts Receivable Accounts Payable and other teams to resolve issues and ensureappropriate financialtreatment of business activity.
Support year-end audit requirements including preparation of supporting documentation and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Leverage Excel Oracle Cloud ERP and other financial toolsto improve reporting analysis and process efficiency.
Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives bringing a Finance perspective to evolving business needs and opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting Finance Business or a related discipline.
3years of relevant accounting experience withdemonstratedexperience managing month-end activities reconciliations and financial analysis.
Enrolled in or completed a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA).
Strong knowledge and practical application of accounting principles with the ability to interpret financial and contractual information.
Demonstrated ability to move beyond transaction processing tounderstand business driversidentifyissues andprovidemeaningful financial insight.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
Strong relationship-building skills and confidence working directly with business partners and cross-functional teams.
Advancedproficiencyin Excel; experience with enterprise accounting and operating systems such asOracle Cloud ERPis an asset.
Understanding of intercompany accounting and complex organizational structures.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment whilemaintaininga high standard of accuracy.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
Experience withcontract accounting sponsorship partnerships media sports or entertainmentis considered an asset.
