Academic Teaching Staff Teacher Education North

This position has an initial appointment from January 1 2027 to April 30 2027.

Location - This role is in-person at Grande Prairie.

The Faculty of Education invites applications for part-time Academic Teaching Staff to teach the following course in the Winter 2027 term. This course is taught in-person and is part of the Teacher Education North program located in Grande Prairie Alberta.

EDPS 410 - Ethics and Law in Teaching

This course will examine the ethical and legal responsibilities of teachers. Among the topics addressed will be the following: punishment and child abuse; freedom of speech and academic freedom in schools; parents rights and teachers professional autonomy; issues of quality such as inclusive education and the problems of racism and sexism; fairness in assessment and evaluation; teachers private lives and public obligations; indoctrination and the teaching of value.

Minimum Qualifications

• The successful applicant will hold a Masters Degree (minimum PhD preferred) in education or a related field with at least one graduate course in the specific subject area or related experience such as leadership experience in the subject area at the K-9 level in a school district.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• A strong K-12 classroom teaching background and demonstrated teaching excellence.
• Experience teaching undergraduate education courses including serving as a teaching assistant.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Familiarity and facility with online teaching platforms such as Moodle Canvas D2L etc.
