As a Software Designer/Developer in the 5G/6G Cloud RAN vDU Baseband function development team you will be part of BNEW RCE RAN SW & Compute Platform working at the heart of Ericssons cloud-native Radio Access Network this role you will help design and build highperformance baseband and Layer2 (L2) functionality for Cloud RAN transforming how operators deploy and scale 5G today and prepare for 6G tomorrow. You will join a collaborative team of experts focused on implementing advanced algorithms and 3GPP features that directly impact network performance user experience and customer satisfaction

What you will do

  • Design and develop baseband and L2 scheduler functionsfor 5G and 6G Cloud RAN vDU aligned with 3GPP NR specifications.
  • Implement 3GPP standards and algorithmsrelated to Radio Resource Management (RRM) MAC RLC PDCP and Physical Layer.
  • Develop embedded realtime softwarerunning on commercial offtheshelf (COTS) hardware in a Cloud RAN DevOps environment.
  • Analyze requirements and contribute to system and tools design translating specifications into robust maintainable C/C code.
  • Design and execute unit and multicomponent tests ensuring quality stability and performance of new and existing features.
  • Implement and test 5G Cloud RAN baseband featuresrelated to the L2 scheduler including scheduling link adaptation and power optimization.
  • Troubleshoot baseband scheduler and L2 stack issues performing indepth debugging and rootcause analysis in complex distributed systems.
  • Contribute to advanced RRM functions such as beamforming massive MIMO carrier aggregation dynamic spectrum sharing and mobility handling.
  • Collaborate in a DevOps-oriented setup working closely with peers across design test CI/CD and system verification.
  • Document designs algorithms and test approaches sharing knowledge and best practices within the team.

The skills you bring

Essential qualifications & experience
  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 2 Years of experience in Embedded Software Development
  • Strong proficiency in C/C including embedded programming and lowlevel debugging.
  • Solid understanding of computer networks and wireless communications.
  • Knowledge of 3GPP NR specifications particularly in some of the following areas:
    • Radio Resource Management (RRM)
    • MAC / RLC / PDCP
    • Physical Layer concepts
    • Mobility and handover procedures
  • Experience with Linux environmentsand basic scripting (Python Bash).
  • Familiarity with modern software development tools such as Git Gerrit Jenkins GitLab and/or Spinnaker.
  • Strong problemsolving and debugging skills with the ability to work on complex realtime systems.
  • Good collaboration and communication skills with a willingness to learn and share knowledge in a crossfunctional team.
Nice to have / can be learned on the job
  • Practical experience with Cloud RAN vDU or cloudnative telecom systems.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing scheduler and L2 algorithmsin commercial RAN products.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelinesfor largescale software systems.
  • Familiarity with performance optimizationfor highthroughput lowlatency systems.
  • Experience with massive MIMO beamforming carrier aggregation or dynamic spectrum sharingin RAN implementations.

Your Pay
The salary offered is dependent on various factors including but not limited to location and the candidates combination of job-related knowledge qualifications skills education training and experience.

The salary range for this position is

Ottawa Ontario: $85000- $111300

Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the units objectives individual performance and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Financial Security
We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. Ericssons Group Retirement & Savings Program offers an automatic 2% company contribution into the Pension Plan. Ericsson also offers a 50% match of employees contribution into the Registered Retirement Savings Plan up to 8% of the employees contribution (maximum of 4% match). This leads to a total company contribution potential of 6%. Employees will also basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage at two-times annual base pay at no cost as well as short-term disability coverage. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericssons Stock Purchase Plan.

Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 18 days of accrued vacation at least 3personal days minimum 10 holidays 1 volunteer day and sick days. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employees start date. Furthermore Ericsson provides up to 10 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
