Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with a strong AI Engineering focus to join the Datasphere team within SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC). You will work on the DAC (Data Access Control) component the enforcement layer that governs who can access what data within Datasphere operating at row and column level across the BDC governance stack.
Mission
Evolve the DAC component of SAP Datasphere from a rule-based enforcement layer into an intelligent agentic governance engine one that proactively assists automates and adapts data access control at BDC scale aligned with SAPs Autonomous Enterprise strategy.
The mission is to bring DAC into the agentic era: moving beyond static policy enforcement toward AI-driven governance that understands enterprise data context reduces operational overhead and delivers explainable auditable access control with production-grade quality reliability and security.
Tech Stack
- Backend / Frontend: TypeScript React
- AI Runtime: SAP Joule with OpenAI API (GPT models)
- Agent tooling: MCP servers tool calling enterprise API integrations
- Observability: Custom SLOs for quality latency cost and reliability
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end implementation of critical backend and frontend features.
- Build APIs integrations and automation flows for DAC-specific scenarios: access policy management authorization enforcement and governance operations within Datasphere.
- Design build and evolve AI agents and skills that automate governance tasks assist DAC administrators and bring intelligent decision-support to data access control operations.
- Define technical standards for observability security quality continuous evaluation and reuse.
- Lead definition of agent metrics and SLOs (quality latency and reliability).
- Define fallback strategy controlled degradation and runtime failure handling.
- Establish a continuous improvement cycle for prompts tools and execution policies with versioning.
- Support short-term architectural decisions without compromising long-term evolution aligned with SAPs Autonomous Enterprise strategy and the DAC agentic roadmap.
- Operate with technical autonomy mentorship and close collaboration with PM architecture and stakeholders.
Mandatory Requirements
- Proven seniority as a full stack engineer.
- Strong backend experience with and TypeScript.
- Strong frontend experience preferably React and TypeScript.
- Solid experience with APIs service integration authentication authorization and security including familiarity with ABAC or RBAC models.
- Proven experience building AI agents and skills in real product contexts.
- Practical experience with tool calling flow orchestration and agent integration with enterprise systems.
- Ability to define guardrails quality criteria and evaluation strategies for agents.
- Experience operating AI solutions in production including observability and continuous improvement.
- Proven experience evaluating agents in production (offline and online) including evaluation datasets and acceptance criteria.
- Experience making quality-latency-cost trade-off decisions for AI operations with defined targets and continuous monitoring.
- Experience with RAG grounding and retrieval strategies with relevance evaluation.
- Experience with incident response root-cause analysis and resilience patterns for production agents.
- Strong practice with automated testing versioning CI/CD and production troubleshooting.
- Clear communication to discuss technical trade-offs with both technical and non-technical teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with MCP servers and agent tool architecture.
- Experience with controlled experimentation (A/B canary progressive rollout and rollback).
- Familiarity with Python for consuming and adapting AI frameworks and SDKs (e.g. OpenAI SDK SAP AI Core/Joule integrations).
- Experience with SAP Datasphere HANA BTP IAS/IDP SAP Joule or similar enterprise context.
- Knowledge of audit trails compliance frameworks and data governance regulations.
- Experience in B2B data products and multi-team environments.
- Track record designing pluggable architecture to reduce rework in uncertain roadmaps.
- Knowledge about Knowledge Graph is a plus.
