Job Summary

Refractory Engineer
Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide. We are currently seeking a Refractory Engineer to provide refractory engineering and supervision support for all sales marketing and research & development activities in Allieds Ironmaking and Steel markets. This includes working directly with customers to support the design and installation of refractory systems for Blast Furnaces and Hot Blast Systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with Allied managers sales personnel field service representatives and R&D staff to provide refractory engineering support.
  2. Support Allied and the AMTS technical team by preparing drawings bills of materials and specifications from a home or regional office. Travel to customer sites to oversee refractory system installations.
  3. Provide field support and supervision for the installation of AMTS refractory designs.
  4. Assist R&D by assessing product performance monitoring established applications directing field trials for new applications and serving as a liaison between customers and Allied personnel on technical matters.
  5. Provide engineering consulting support to customers fostering strong relationships and promoting Allieds interests.
  6. Work with design engineering and construction companies to promote Allied products designs and technology ensuring proper installation and design practices.
  7. Assist the Business Manager with engineering design and supervision for blast furnaces hot blast stoves and other heat-containing equipment.
  8. Participate in customer visits and technical discussions with AMTS and Allied representatives including international engagements for key account support and troubleshooting.
  9. Assist in the development of marketing tools to effectively promote refractory products in the ironmaking industry
Other Duties:
  1. Monitor competitive activities and new design and material technology both domestic and international.
  2. Establish and monitor safety and job skills training programs for Allied sales/service representatives.
  3. Comply with all company policies and regulations.
  4. Ensure compliance with all EEOC ADA and applicable local state and federal laws and regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  1. Bachelors Degree or equivalent degree/courses in an engineering field relevant to the industry.
  2. Experience in refractory design and supervision within the metal processing industry.
  3. Basic understanding of metallurgical processes.
  4. Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
  5. Ability to work extended hours in industrial environments as required.
  6. Proficiency in English and Portuguese.
  7. Strong working knowledge of Excel Word Powerpoint and heat transfer principles.
Bonus Qualifications:
  1. Experience with AutoCAD.
  2. Experience with programming.
