ABOUT THE TEAM

SAP Concur is the market leader in integrated travel expense and invoice management serving millions of users worldwide.

The Concur Spend Admin engineering team owns the full administration lifecycle of the Concur Spend platform admin UI onboarding entity lifecycle management and partner and implementation team support. We build the tools that administrators use to configure monitor and optimize their expense programs and that SAP uses to provision and manage the lifecycle of tenants. Our stack includes React and TypeScript frontends; Java/Spring Boot and services; Python services for AI use cases; and AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure. We ship to production frequently operate what we build and use AI coding tools (including Claude Code) daily across the team.

We are building a new team in São Leopoldo RS Brazil. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the culture and practices of a team from day one.

THE ROLE

As a Development Expert on the Concur Spend Admin team in São Leopoldo you will set technical direction across multiple services or product areas. You will lead the teams hardest technical initiatives make architectural decisions with long-term consequences and establish patterns that others follow.

Our technical challenges span multi-model AI integration event-driven microservice architectures data platforms at scale and high-availability systems. You would lead the technical approach on problems like these and constantly improve engineering practices across the team. We are looking for someone who moves easily into new topics and raises the bar.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

• Set technical direction across multiple services or product areas
• Lead the teams hardest and highest-leverage technical initiatives
• Make architectural decisions with long-term consequences
• Constantly improve engineering practices in the team and beyond
• Improve reliability and architecture across services
• Participate in product discovery alongside Product Management UX and customers
• Contribute to architectural decisions on AI integration patterns including model selection prompt design evaluation and reliability
• Collaborate with team members in Vancouver Bellevue and São Leopoldo across time zones

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• The ability to solve technical problems by writing actual working code; this is very much a hands-on position
• Deep experience across multiple areas of the technology stack
• Experience setting technical direction and making architectural decisions that others follow
• The ability to understand root causes across systems and drive solutions end to end
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English

DESIRABLEEXPERIENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong programming skills in one or more of Java TypeScript and Python
• Experience with React and Redux
• Experience with Spring Boot and/or designing and building systems that integrate with LLMs or other AI/ML services (prompt engineering model evaluation RAG patterns vector search)
• Deep experience with AWS (EKS S3 DynamoDB Glue Athena) Kubernetes and service mesh (Istio)
• Experience with data engineering: ETL pipelines data lakes SQL analytics at scale
• Experience with SQL databases (SQL Server MySQL)
• Experience with event-driven and microservice architectures workflow engines (Temporal) or distributed systems
• Experience with CI/CD and automated testing
• Understanding of security performance engineering and observability in production systems
• Strong product judgment and commitment to a high-quality user experience
• Evidence of excellence in some capacity (could be via personal projects open source contributions recognized expertise in a domain etc.)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Experience providing technical direction across multiple systems or teams. Recognized internally or externally as a subject matter expert in at least one area.
