Amazon is seeking a pragmatic innovative and driven financial services compliance professional to join the Risk and Compliance Solutions North America Compliance Office.

We are looking for a Compliance Assurance Professional to join our fast-growing Assurance team and support our regulated businesses within the North America region covering the United States and Canada and supporting World Wide Assurance Missions. The successful candidate should help the rollout and execution of our second line of defense Assurance Program in the region and has ideally extensive knowledge of the US and Canada regulatory regime governing financial services institutions. The successful candidate is an ambitious self-starter with a proven capability to work independently and as part of a team has strong analytical and organizational skills and a sound knowledge of relevant Assurance or Audit practices.
The role is uniquely placed to work directly with Regional Leaders to drive scalable risk and compliance testing and monitoring solutions across many areas to help maintain a compliant status vis-à-vis regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will therefore work closely with the Compliance Officers Payments Risk Governance Internal Audit and other Operational and Support teams to provide Senior Management with adequate visibility on regulatory risk exposure and the status of internal controls.

The successful candidate is ideally responsible for translating regulatory requirements to actionable recommendations and controls for the first line of defense by assessing risks producing regulatory analysis and reports and designing continuous risk monitoring solutions. The candidate is also a quick learner with an ability to absorb the nuances of Amazons varied payment offerings their risks and internal systems and practices.

Key job responsibilities
The successful candidate should have strong business and communication skills able to influence senior stakeholders via data-driven and actionable insights. The successful candidate will also:
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and solid understanding of relevant regulatory regulations (i.e. US/Canada regulatory reporting RPAA consumer protection regulations and others)
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and solid understanding of relevant financial crimes regulations (i.e. AML/BSA FINTRAC requirements and others)
Significantly contribute to the design development implementation and execution of compliance assurance testing lead issue validation activities with stakeholders and report to Senior Management;
Ability to learn and understand business processes regulations internal controls and develop meaningful tests to determine control design adequacy and operating effectiveness;
Perform operational deep dives to understand and find gaps in compliance-related processes and services;
Identify and assess inherent and residual risks related to control deficiencies;
Work with compliance office personnel business units legal and technology partners to identify deficiencies in internal controls and operational processes and identify root cause of issues;
Participate in process improvement initiatives including identifying and implementing best practices in effective and innovative ways.
Continuously Identify industry best practices and contribute to the improvement of the Assurance Program;
Embrace the use of data analytics to increase value and reduce costs of compliance-related assurance activities;
Manage several regional and global projects simultaneously with precision and accuracy.

- Experience in compliance audit or risk management
- Experience in English-language communication skills both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g. pivot tables & charts multiple criteria lookups nested logical/IF formulas data cleansing array formulas etc.)
- Experience with strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelors degree or equivalent
- Experience in quality assurance testing
- Experience in a financial institution Big 4 or licensed money transmitter covering compliance assurance

- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to drive improvements
- Knowledge of SQL and Excel
