Jordan orders for 3 million doses of COVID-19 Vaccine

Taking into consideration the latest observation of sharp spikes in daily cases of COVID-19 in Jordan brings up total cases to 368,278 with 4,316 being fatal – Besides measures taken by the government to limit the number of daily new cases, the Jordanian government has closed the deal to purchase three million doses.

Witnessing the world set off to the race of vaccine production and which producer is capable of distributing the highest number of doses to different countries – Jordan also has booked its share of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

This is how the total of purchased doses by the Jordanian government sums up to three million vaccine doses and are divided into two makes: 

  1. Pfizer and BioNTech partner – Jordan sealed the deal for one million doses of the Pfizer vaccine

  2. COVAX Program – This World Health Organization’s vaccine has made it into the Jordanian vaccination clinics with two million doses to be given out to patients.
The vaccination process is at no charge for citizens of Jordan and expatriates living in the Kingdom as well.

According to media published reports, Health Minister Nazir Obeidat said: “The vaccine’s distribution will be free of charge to both expatriates and Jordanians residing in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan”

Although Jordan has accumulated enough doses of the vaccine to cover 30% of Jordan’s population – There’s a chance of potentially purchasing two other vaccines.

Where the deal is still being discussed between the Jordanian government and the British pharmaceuticals group AstraZeneca as well as US group Johnson & Johnson.
