Dubai Expo 2020 officially postponed

As mentioned on the official Expo 2020 Website that the "Member States voted remotely on the BIE Executive Committee's recommendation for a delay as proposed by the UAE Government at the beginning of April and recommended by the BIE Executive Committee on April 21".

While the vote remains open until May 29, the two-thirds threshold was surpassed within a week of voting opening on 24 April.

Dubai Media Office declared in an official statement that "Expo 2020 Dubai is gearing up to help shape a post-pandemic world and create a better future for all after a two-thirds majority of Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Member States voted in favor of postponing the next World Expo by one year.

"The global mega-event will now run from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, a delay that allows all participants to navigate the impact of COVID-19 safely. It also allows the World Expo to focus on a collective desire for new thinking to identify solutions to some of the greatest challenges of our time."

This postponement doesn't mean that Dubai will stop proving its leadership to host the first World Expo in the Middle East. It will come on 1 October 2021 as evidence of the UAE's and the Middle East's talent, potential, and creativity. The three core principles of Expo 2020, Mobility, Sustainability, and opportunity will come along with "Connecting minds, creating the future" to represent a unique platform that helps the world to share ideas, solutions, and innovations for a better future.

To conclude, Dubai Expo 2020 will be a symbol of rebirth and unity that brings the world together again to celebrate a successful recovery from its shared pandemic. Typically, it will be an event to celebrate the world's post-pandemic time and an event to appreciate the world's connection.

Dubai Expo 2020 remains committed to welcome about 190 countries as participants, and more than 25 million visitors, it will be the gate to discover all cultures, technologies, and economic trends around the world. Dubai will make global progress and inspire the next generations on how to be leaders and innovators.
