About the Role

We are seeking a Senior PostgreSQL DBA (Freelance) to lead the implementation and ongoing management of a new high-availability enterprise platform for our client. This is a mission-critical long-term freelance opportunity (initial 4 months with annual renewals) based in Brussels designed for those who thrive on impact and ownership. Youll be at the heart of platform reliability innovation and knowledge transfer ensuring the backbone of digital transformation is robust and future-ready.

As Senior PostgreSQL DBA you will architect and safeguard the data ecosystem ensuring seamless service continuity across PostgreSQL Oracle (Exadata ) and MS SQL Server (VMware). Your expertise will directly influence operational excellence disaster recovery readiness and the technical evolution of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and day-to-day management of a high-availability PostgreSQL enterprise platform
• Design and manage replication strategies disaster recovery and backup solutions (Veeam)
• Automate deployments and manage the full database lifecycle
• Collaborate on L3 support for database platforms defining standards and procedures
• Draft and evolve the database roadmap in partnership with technical stakeholders
• Transfer knowledge and best practices to the in-house team fostering a culture of technical excellence
• Ensure service continuity for Oracle (Exadata ) and MS SQL Server (VMware) platforms
• Monitor analyze and optimize database performance using tools such as Grafana and Zabbix
• Utilize ServiceNow for incident change and problem management

Language Proficiency

• French or Dutch: Excellent (one of these is mandatory)
• Second language (French or Dutch): Good
• English: Good

Other Requirements

• Senior-level experience as a Database Administrator
• Proven track record in high-availability enterprise environments
• Strong ownership mindset and proactive problem-solving skills
• Ability to drive knowledge transfer and mentor technical teams
• Partial remote work available; on-site presence in Brussels required
• Mission may be renewed annually up to a maximum of 880 working days
