About the job

The European Commission is seeking a Junior Business Analyst to support key initiatives related to research and innovation data this role you will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to analyse requirements improve business processes support data integration activities and contribute to the development of data-driven solutions that enhance the management and tracking of research results. Key Responsibilities

• Gather analyse and document business requirements through stakeholder engagement and interviews.
• Support business process and business model analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Translate business needs into clear functional requirements and user stories.
• Contribute to the implementation of methodologies for tracking research results including the integration and linking of internal and external datasets.
• Assist with data integration activities including: 1) Record linkage against authority tables; 2) Data validation and quality control and 3) Data flow analysis and documentation.
• Participate in technical and functional workshops meetings and user demonstrations.
• Support testing activities including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) validation and issue tracking.
• Contribute to dashboard and reporting requirements ensuring data is presented in a meaningful and user-friendly manner.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business needs and facilitate user adoption.
• Maintain high standards of documentation analysis and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Profile requirements

• Approximately 1-3 years of experience in Business Analysis data-related projects or a similar role.
• Good understanding of core Business Analyst activities including requirements gathering stakeholder interviews user stories prioritisation testing and UAT.
• Strong analytical and structured thinking skills with the ability to clearly articulate business needs and proposed solutions.
• Basic understanding of relational databases and data flows.
• Familiarity with business process modelling and requirements analysis.
• Experience contributing to business improvement initiatives or digital transformation projects.
• Ability to conduct data validation and support data quality activities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent documentation organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and multicultural environment.

Desired Assets

• Familiarity with the Research & Innovation (R&I) domain.
• Experience with JIRA or similar requirements and project management tools.
• Good knowledge of Python and/or SQL.
• Exposure to dashboard design reporting or business intelligence solutions.
• Understanding data management principles data quality and information governance.
• Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies including iterative validation KPI monitoring and testing processes.
• Experience supporting the implementation of business applications Power Apps solutions portals or similar digital platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder expectations and support change management activities.
• Proactive curious and eager-to-learn mindset with a strong team-oriented approach.
• Ability to assess solutions critically and apply logical reasoning to business challenges.
