The expertise network Artistic Practices at LUCA School of Arts offers a position for a candidate interested in a teaching assignment in the arts embedded within the expertise team Music Performance.

The proposed start date is 01/11/2026.

Key Responsibilities

As a guest lecturer (assistant) Guitar you teach within the Music Performance programme and support the main guitar teacher in the pedagogical and organizational development of the guitar class. You provide instrumental and technical guitar lessons adapted to the learning objectives and individual needs of the students and contribute to their musical artistic and professional development. You also provide training in sight-reading (leestechniek) to further develop students reading skills and musical fluency.

The workload of the position is linked to the high number of students in the main teachers class and is intended to provide additional teaching capacity; it is not a position aimed at building or developing an independent student class.

In addition you support the organization and preparation of try-out sessions student concerts and other activities related to the guitar class. You actively collaborate with the main teacher and other docents contribute to a positive and stimulating learning environment and participate in team meetings and activities related to the further development of the programme.

Profile

• You demonstrate strong pedagogical and didactic skills.
• You combine a high level of artistic and technical expertise in guitar with pedagogical insight and are able to inspire and motivate students.
• You have experience in teaching guitar.
• You are able to provide individual instrumental and technical guidance taking into account the different levels and needs of students.
• You support the main teacher in the pedagogical and organizational development of the guitar class.
• You have strong sight-reading skills and is able to provide training in sight-reading (leestechniek).
• You have an interest in and experience with organizing try-outs student concerts and other educational and artistic activities.
• You contribute to a positive and stimulating learning environment and encourages students in their artistic and musical development.
• You are a team player who collaborates constructively and openly with the main teacher and other colleagues.
• You communicate clearly and fluently in English and/or Dutch.
• You are willing to contribute to the further development of the guitar class and the Music Performance programme.
• You are committed to the mission vision and educational policy of LUCA School of Arts.

• A contractual fixed-term appointment as Guest Docent (min. 15% max. 25%) in salary scale

Employment and contractual conditions

• Upon recruitment a maximum of 10 years of relevant professional experience can be recognized unless teaching experience exceeds 10 years in which case all teaching experience will be recognized.
• If your contract as Guest Docent is renewed and you have been employed for two years you will receive an open-ended contract in the third year.

After trial lesson and the interview all successful candidates will be ranked. The candidate who scores highest will receive a job offer first.
