Associate Controller Europe (12 Month FTC)

A bit about the role

We are looking to hire an Associate Controller to join our Europe & UK Regional Finance team for a 12 month FTC contract. 

Based in Brussels you will assist in growing our finance capabilities to steer the organisation in the right direction ensuring compliance with accounting regulatory and tax requirements. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders as well as be an integral part of the international finance team.

Key Responsibilities

• Statutory Financials: Own the end-to-end preparation of local statutory financial statements. Lead the drafting of disclosures and notes ensuring full compliance with GAAP and the Companies Act.

• Audit: Act as the primary lead for external audit execution. Coordinate the process from initial planning and walkthroughs to finalization ensuring a clean and timely audit cycle.

• Regulatory Reporting & Compliance: Manage regulatory reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards regulatory requirements and internal governance frameworks. Support implementation of new regulatory requirements and assess their financial reporting impact.

• Analysis & Management Reporting: Provide deep-dive variance analysis (Actuals vs. Forecast). Convert statutory data into meaningful management insights for the Country Manager and Regional leadership.

• Tax Coordination: Partner with the Tax team to ensure precise filings for Indirect Tax Corporate Tax and Transfer Pricing.

• Controls Governance & Audit: Strengthen and maintain financial controls and governance processes. Document and improve key financial processes. Monitor compliance with internal policies and regulatory expectations. Drive ongoing enhancements to the control environment.

Qualifications :

Experience:

• Professional Experience: Proven post-qualified experience in accounting financial control and reporting. Experience in Fintech or Financial Services is desirable

• Technical skills: Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. SQL / Python automation skills would be a bonus.

• Automation Mindset: Passionate about eliminating manual work and improving efficiency through automation. Curious about systems data flows and opportunities to streamline finance operations.

• Analytical Thinking: Able to translate complex financial and operational data into actionable insights. Comfortable working with large datasets and investigating data quality issues.

• Stakeholder Management: Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

• Adaptability & Ownership. Thrives in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Takes ownership of outcomes and proactively drives improvements. Comfortable managing competing priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and control.
