Job Summary
Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ANI) is the owner developer and manager of the Osborne Naval Shipyards supporting the Commonwealths Naval Shipbuilding Plan. ANI is responsible designing constructing and managing the shipyard infrastructure including the new Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard to support the AUKUS program and operating and maintaining common use facilities.
ANI is seeking a highly experienced Technical Authority Manager to lead the Technical Authority function for the Osborne Naval Shipyard. Reporting to the Head of Engineering this role is critical in setting maintaining and assuring the technical standards applied across Osborne facilities throughout the asset lifecycle.
With increasing activity and growth under AUKUS this position plays a pivotal role in ensuring engineering activities meet required standards engineering policy and nuclear site licence conditions - supporting both the delivery of NPSCY and ongoing operations across submarine and warship domains.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the Technical Authority function for Osborne facilities
- Define apply and maintain technical standards and frameworks across the shipyard lifecycle
- Ensure compliance with engineering policy and nuclear site licence conditions
- Act as the key interface for determination of standards for NPSCY and other Osborne facilities
- Provide assurance of design intent and operational readiness
- Approve and govern technical changes concessions and configuration management activities
- Assess deviations and direct corrective actions to maintain compliance
- Interface with Design Authorities regulators and senior stakeholders across defence domains
- Promote technical excellence continuous improvement and lessons learned across ANI
About You:
You are a senior engineering professional with deep technical expertise and experience operating in highly regulated environments. You bring strong judgement authority and collaboration skills and are comfortable exercising formal technical decisionmaking responsibility. A services related background in electrical or mechanical would be ideal.
You will also have:
- Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain NV1 Defence security clearance
- A degree qualification in an Engineering discipline
- Extensive experience in technical authority senior engineering or equivalent roles
- Experience in nuclear operations and/or nuclear construction (desirable)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Excellent troubleshooting analytical and problemsolving capability
- Demonstrated initiative resilience and adaptability in complex operating environments
