Lynas Rare Earths is seeking a highly experienced Superintendent Process Control (Metallurgy) to lead process optimisation and metallurgical performance across our Mt Weld operation. This is a FIFO position from Perth to our Mt Weld Operations on an 8/6 roster.
This is a sterling opportunity to work in a brand-new concentrator plant expanding on the Australian mining industrys mineral processing collective knowledge and adding to the rare earths commoditys prosperous future.
Reporting to the WA Process Improvement Team Manager you will lead a team of Senior and Plant Metallurgists to ensure safe efficient and reliable plant performance through the effective application of automation control strategies and continuous improvement initiatives. Considers the technical aspects of the operation at Mt Welds concentrator in terms of efficiency accuracy and optimization are continuously monitored and kept at optimum levels of performance.
The position plays a critical role in supporting production targets operational stability and compliance with Lynass standards.
As a highly valued member of the Lynas Rare Earths team you will:
- Be accountable for Mt Welds concentrator rare earths recovery and product quality
- Lead process control and metallurgical optimisation activities
- Drive continuous improvement and troubleshooting initiatives
- Oversee metallurgical accounting and data integrity
- Support process design documentation commissioning and operational projects
- Collaborate with Operations Maintenance Projects and downstream stakeholders
- Mentor metallurgists graduates and laboratory personnel
- Promote strong HSE quality and process safety standards
What you will bring to the team:
- Degree in Metallurgy Mineral Processing Chemical or Process Engineering
- 810 years experience within mining mineral processing or heavy industry
- Proven leadership experience within a processing plant environment
- Strong background in process optimisation and continuous improvement
- Experience with SCADA systems and BI tools highly regarded
- Excellent leadership communication and problem-solving skills
- Minimum WA unencumbered C class drivers license or above
- Candidates with the following desirable qualifications and experience will be highly regarded:
- Flotation Hydrometallurgy Pyrometallurgy Water Treatment
- Dangerous goods and process safety
- Radiation Safety Officer registration
- Business Management Leadership or Economics degree
- Strong commitment to safety operational excellence and team development
