About the role
As a Senior Power Systems Engineer you will lead power system analysis activities and assess Victorias long-term transmission planning needs. You will evaluate transmission network adequacy and limitations and identify and assess investment proposals that support a safe secure and reliable electricity supply.

You will join a high-performing and collaborative team delivering complex power system analysis and investment planning across Victorias transmission network. These long-term projects require engineers who are self-motivated solutions-focused and able to work autonomously while engaging closely with internal stakeholders including other AEMO planning teams and VicGrid.

What you will be doing

You will undertake simulation and analysis of the Victorian transmission network using specialised power system modelling tools to assess network capability identify emerging limitations and evaluate mitigation and investment options.

The role involves interpreting and validating simulation outcomes preparing technical reports and scopes of work developing cost estimates and delivery plans and providing expert technical advice to support high-quality project outcomes.

You will provide technical guidance for junior staff contribute clear and concise reports and stakeholder communications and manage multiple concurrent project workstreams while proactively identifying and communicating risks priorities and impacts. Youll be supported by a trusted and highly capable team environment that values collaboration knowledge sharing and technical autonomy.

What you will bring to the role

Education/Certificates

Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering and strong relevant industry experience in power system analysis.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience in electricity transmission network planning industry long-term jurisdictional planning will be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in power system analysis tools such as PSS/E with the ability to interpret technical studies and modelling outcomes; experience with market modelling tools such as PLEXOS and PSCAD is advantageous.
  • Experience in cost estimation cost-benefit assessment and probability-based analysis techniques to support investment decision making.
  • Proven ability to lead work packages and coordinate junior staff and consultants to deliver quality outcomes on time.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver high-quality technical reports and stakeholder communications
  • A sound understanding of AEMOs Victorian jurisdictional role energy markets and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • A strong ability to interpret and translate complex technical outputs into meaningful insights and communications for stakeholders with diverse levels of technical understanding.
