Restaurant & Event Manager
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Restaurant & Event Manager to join our team.
We can off a true work life balance with limited nights and primarily Monday to Friday work public holiday off and a Christmas Shutdown.
As the NuServices Restaurant & Event Manager you will play a crucial role in overseeing the front-end management of our Restaurant LC Deli/Student Cafe and Functions & Events.
You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of professionalism leadership and legislative compliance are maintained. Reporting to the Manager of Food & Beverage Services you will lead a team to deliver exceptional dining event and catering experiences for UoN staff students and the broader Newcastle community.
This role is based at the Callaghan campus and is a predominantly a Monday to Friday role with public holidays off and a two-week Christmas shut down.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team in delivering high-quality dining event and catering experiences.
Achieve financial sustainability by managing costs and meeting budget targets.
Oversee the operations of the Restaurant Deli and Catering & Events.
Train and develop Restaurant Deli and Function staff on service standards and product knowledge.
Implement performance management processes conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and mentoring.
Manage & perform all restaurant front of house duties related to the service of food and beverages ensuring professionalism and compliance.
Manage the Restaurant and Catering email account handling enquiries and bookings.
Ensure compliance with legislative obligations company policies and the Code of Conduct.
Support NuServices Strategic Business Plan and future growth initiatives.
Requirements:
Extensive experience within the hospitality industry; preferably experience managing a restaurant and large functions and events (100).
Understanding of current legislations Liquor Licensing Food Safety & WHS standards.
Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead by example.
Experience in staff training and development.
