This is a fantastic opportunity for an NV1 cleared Network Engineer with some existing experience or those eager to launch their career in Network Engineering at Telstra. Youll gain and expand your hands-on experience supporting Telstras Defence customers and networks learning from real-world challenges and working with experienced professionals.

This permanent Defence role is based onsite in Canberra (preferred) Sydney or Melbourne. Youll work on a rotating 24x7 shift roster and you are required to work all shifts onsite.

Active NV1 clearance is essential and bonus points for NV2 clearance.

What youll do

• Investigate and help resolve network incidents and alarms.

• Assist with network changes following customer and management processes.

• Keep accurate records and support service reporting.

• Join incident calls and provide technical updates.

• Follow change incident and problem management guidelines.

• Carry out standard operational tasks and maintenance.

About you

• Ideally 2 years hands on experience in Network Engineering.

• Active NV1 security clearance (mandatory) NV2 preferred.

• Understanding of data communications routing switching and telecommunications.

• Familiarity with VLANs Spanning-Tree wireless technologies and WAN/BAN routing protocols (OSPF BGP).

• Exposure to Juniper Cisco Nortel or Avaya networking products.

• ITIL Foundation or Practitioner certification (desirable).

• Defence or enterprise ICT environment experience (desirable).

Candidates must hold a current Defence clearance to be considered. This role will require you to hold and maintain an minimum Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance.
