Whats the role

The Associate Network Engineer Cloud Networks is an early-career role focused on building supporting and automating cloud network infrastructure across the Westpac Group where youll work closely with experienced engineers to resolve operational issues develop infrastructure-as-code contribute to CI/CD pipelines and progressively build deep networking and cloud capability within a structured and supportive environment.

  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for cloud network environments managing operational tickets and resolving incidents with guidance from senior engineers
  • Assist with the build configuration and ongoing support of cloud network infrastructure across Azure AWS and GCP environments
  • Develop maintain and enhance infrastructure-as-code and automation scripts using tools such as Terraform Python and Ansible
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins) to support automated network deployments and improve operational efficiency
  • Participate in code reviews documentation and knowledge-sharing activities while applying core networking principles such as TCP/IP DNS DHCP and routing in a cloud context
What do I need
  • Strong coding capability in at least one language (Python preferred) with ability to write clean maintainable code
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible including from study or personal projects
  • Foundational networking knowledge across TCP/IP DNS subnets IP addressing and routing concepts (CCNA-level or equivalent)
  • Experience using version control tools such as Git with a structured approach to collaboration and code management
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting technical issues
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and work collaboratively within a team
  • A strong growth mindset with willingness to learn cloud technologies CI/CD practices and IT service management fundamentals
