Overview
Our Federal Government client is seeking experienced APS6 Site Security Observers (SSOs) to support the delivery of construction security activities across security-sensitive facilities and infrastructure projects. Working as part of a Construction Security Team the successful candidates will provide on-site security oversight and assurance throughout the construction lifecycle ensuring compliance with security requirements construction security plans and government protective security standards.
The Site Security Observer role supports the protection of personnel information and assets by monitoring construction activities personnel materials and equipment within controlled environments. These positions offer an opportunity to contribute to nationally significant projects within a highly professional and security-focused environment.
Responsibilities
Observe personnel movements and activities within designated construction zones and controlled areas.
Monitor construction activities for compliance with approved Construction Security Plans (CSPs) and related security requirements.
Conduct inspections and audits of materials tools and equipment entering and leaving the worksite.
Identify report and assist in managing suspicious prohibited or non-compliant materials and activities.
Operate and monitor site-based security systems including CCTV alarms and access control systems.
Apply a risk-based approach to identifying assessing and escalating security incidents risks and non-compliance issues.
Maintain accurate security records logs reports and documentation to support assurance and audit requirements.
Support security investigations and incident reporting activities as required.
Work collaboratively within a multi-person operational team while adhering to established command and reporting structures.
Promote compliance with security procedures and support the delivery of secure construction outcomes.
Experience/requirements
Experience working within security construction facilities management defence law enforcement military or other security-sensitive environments.
Experience working as part of a dynamic operational team in controlled or high-security environments.
Strong observation monitoring and situational awareness capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate reports records and documentation.
Ability to exercise sound judgement and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and site safety practices within active construction environments.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of professionalism and discipline.
Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting equipment up to 30kg.
