Senior Structural Engineer Water Infrastructure

The Senior Structural Engineer will perform specific and moderate portions of broader water infrastructure assignments demonstrating expertise in structural design for water systems and facilities. This role involves gathering and correlating hydraulic and water quality engineering data using established water industry procedures while working on detailed structural assignments involving calculations testing and analysis specific to water treatment and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced water infrastructure engineer.

• Gathers and correlates hydraulic structural and water quality engineering data using established and well-defined water industry procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine structural engineering assignments involving calculations and testing specific to water treatment facilities distribution systems and water infrastructure projects.
• Proposes approaches to solve new problems encountered in water engineering using modifications of standard water industry procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
• Identifies discrepancies in structural analysis results and water system performance data.
• Provides guidance and mentorship to entry-level engineers in water infrastructure design and analysis.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with minimal supervision adhering to water industry standards and regulations.
• Independently performs all tasks necessary to complete primary structural design elements for water infrastructure works including treatment plants pumping stations and conveyance systems.
• Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional water engineering position.

   

Qualifications :

**Required Qualifications:**

• Minimum 10 years of professional structural engineering experience in water infrastructure including water treatment facilities distribution systems pumping stations or conveyance systems
• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Structural Engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of practice
• Demonstrated expertise in structural design calculations analysis and testing specific to water systems
• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (e.g. SAP2000 or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of water industry standards codes and regulations (AWWA ACI AISC)
• Proven ability to work independently on complex structural design assignments with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers

**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Masters degree in Civil Engineering Structural Engineering or Water Resources Engineering
• 15 years of experience in water infrastructure engineering
• Experience with hydraulic and water quality engineering data analysis
• Familiarity with CAD software and Building Information Modeling (BIM)
• Project management experience on water infrastructure projects
• Professional certifications in water engineering or related disciplines
