Shift Engineer

Principal Responsibilities – Shift Engineer

• Supervise and coordinate shift operations to ensure safe reliable and efficient operation of manufacturing and industrial gases production facilities.
• Monitor plant performance process parameters equipment status and utility systems to ensure operations remain within approved operating limits and production targets.
• Provide technical support and direction to shift operators and technicians during normal operations start-up shutdown product changeover and emergency situations.
• Ensure strict compliance with company Health Safety Security and Environment policies Qatar regulatory requirements permit-to-work procedures and site operating standards.
• Identify troubleshoot and resolve operational and equipment-related issues involving electrical systems instrumentation control systems compressors pumps motors power distribution and associated plant equipment.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Production Quality Logistics and other support teams to minimize downtime support planned maintenance activities and ensure timely resolution of plant issues.
• Conduct shift handovers prepare shift reports document plant abnormalities and communicate key operational updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor product quality and process stability to ensure finished products meet required specifications customer requirements and internal quality standards.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities by raising work notifications assisting in fault diagnosis verifying equipment readiness and ensuring safe isolation of electrical and process equipment.
• Lead or participate in incident reporting root cause analysis near-miss investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure proper implementation of lockout/tagout electrical safety procedures confined space entry hot work and other critical safety controls during shift activities.
• Review and enforce standard operating procedures emergency response procedures and safe work practices during all shift operations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving plant reliability energy efficiency productivity cost control and operational performance.
• Maintain operational readiness of critical equipment and emergency systems including standby power alarms shutdown systems fire and gas systems and safety interlocks.
• Provide guidance coaching and on-the-job training to operators and junior team members to improve technical competence and operational discipline.
• Coordinate with customers dispatch or logistics teams as required to support product availability loading operations delivery schedules and customer supply continuity.
• Ensure accurate recording of production data equipment readings power consumption downtime and shift activities in relevant systems or logbooks.
• Participate in audits inspections safety walks risk assessments and management of change activities related to manufacturing and industrial gases operations.
• Support compliance with ISO quality management environmental and operational excellence standards applicable to the facility.
• Act as the responsible shift focal point during emergencies abnormal plant conditions or operational disruptions until relieved by senior management or designated authority.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience in manufacturing process plant utilities or industrial gases operations.
• Experience in Qatar or GCC industrial operations is preferred.
• Good knowledge of electrical systems plant operations safety procedures troubleshooting and shift supervision.
• Familiarity with industrial gases production storage filling distribution or related manufacturing environments is an advantage.
