Job Description: IT Systems Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure Operations this role you will be responsible for maintaining securing and optimizing the organization's IT infrastructure ensuring maximum uptime business continuity and data protection.

You will oversee core server and storage environments manage enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions and administer the organization's ITSM platform in alignment with ITIL best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• System Administration & Maintenance: Administer and maintain physical and virtual servers storage systems and core infrastructure. Perform routine system upgrades patching and configuration changes to optimize performance and security.

• Backup & Recovery Management: Design implement and manage comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies using enterprise tools (IBM Spectrum Protect Commvault). Conduct regular backup validation and disaster recovery testing.

• Monitoring & Incident Management: Proactively monitor systems for availability security and performance anomalies. Respond promptly to incidents conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) and resolve issues within defined SLA timeframes.

• ITSM Platform Management: Administer and maintain the organization’s ITSM platform (e.g. BMC Helix). Develop and manage workflows service catalogs automation rules and user access.

• Capacity Planning & Optimization: Analyze performance and storage trends to forecast future capacity requirements. Track licenses subscriptions and implement cost-effective optimization strategies.

• Documentation & Technical Support: Maintain detailed documentation for system configurations disaster recovery plans and guidelines. Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support across the IT department.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or a related technical field.

• Experience: 8 years of hands-on experience in core IT System Engineering System Administration and Enterprise Backup Administration.

• Core Technical Expertise:

  • Backup Solutions: IBM Spectrum Protect / Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Commvault.

  • ITSM Platforms: BMC Helix or similar ITIL-aligned platforms.

  • Databases: Hands-on infrastructure support for RDBMS (MS SQL Oracle PostgreSQL MySQL SAP HANA).

  • Operating Systems & Storage: Enterprise Unix/Linux (AIX RHEL SUSE) Windows Server and IBM/EMC enterprise storage solutions.

• Certifications (Preferred): IBM Spectrum Protect Commvault ITIL or relevant ITSM/Infrastructure certifications.
