About the role
As Manager Ground Handling you are accountable for the management and supervision of all ground operations conducted under our AOC and you also hold the airlines Dangerous Goods Officer function. You will build the ground operations function oversee our contracted ground handlers and ensure dangerous goods are handled in full compliance with ICAO/IATA and CAR-92 requirements.
What youll do
- Manage and supervise all ground operations airport and ramp load control passenger and baggage handling in compliance with CAR OPS-1 and the Operations Manual.
- Build an effective ground operations function and oversee contracted ground handling providers.
- Hold the Dangerous Goods Officer function develop maintain and enforce DG policies procedures and acceptance/handling checks across ground operations and cargo and act as primary liaison with the CAA Dangerous Goods Department.
- Oversee dangerous goods training monitor DG compliance and manage DG occurrence reporting and corrective actions through the SMS.
- Coordinate with flight operations maintenance and airports and support the QMS/SMS and just culture.
What youll bring
- Five years relevant experience including two in the aviation industry in a ground operations airport operations or station management role.
- Proven experience as a nominated Ground Operations Post Holder (or equivalent) accountable to the regulator.
- Thorough knowledge of the airline ground operations concept turnarounds load control customer handling and irregular operations and of applicable regulations AOC Ops Specs and the relevant Operations Manual sections.
- Solid management experience leading ground operations teams and/or overseeing contracted ground handling with familiarity in QMS and SMS.
- Demonstrated dangerous goods experience with practical knowledge of ICAO/IATA DGR and CAR-92 ICAO TI Category 6 DG training (recurrent every 24 months) and competence overseeing DG training and compliance across stations cargo and handling.

- Experience delivering safe operations through an effective ground operations function from the start-up stage as a Post Holder.
- Experience preparing dangerous goods approval documentation (e.g. DG/APP/01 and DG/APP/02) and liaising directly with a civil aviation authority DG department.
