Our client is an established firm in the Shipping Industry with several decades of ship-owning experience in dry and wet fleets. They have been managing their assets technically and commercially as a leading organization. To lead its expansion plan from Singapore our client is looking for its:

Managing Director

(Based in Singapore)

ORGANIZATION:

Reporting to the senior management team and being a part of a geographically spread senior leadership team your key focus will be to commercially manage a fleet of owned vessels and develop new business opportunities to expand the owned and managed fleet size from Singapore.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your key responsibility is to manage the company s ocean-going assets, develop and execute business strategy, and ensure economic profitability. You will ensure the development of Singapore office as a successful commercial entity by managing a number of ships under its commercial management. You are expected to develop the business further and expand the fleet under its management by seizing the right opportunities to acquire additional tonnage under its commercial management and ownership. You are going to lead the business growth in the number of owned and chartered vessels and be responsible for Profit and Loss. You will build commercial relationships with major cargo owners and brokers on one hand and a competent team on the other.

This is a strategic and leadership position and your success would be measured by

Profitability: Creative and innovative mindset, able to implement and develop strategies, and set delivery performance standards to create a competitive advantage in the market (reflected in the profitability of operations).

Expansion: Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders (resulting in opportunistic tonnage expansion).

Change Management: Proven leadership experience, able to communicate effectively across all levels, and lead the organization to the next level.

Reporting: Timely reporting on activities, opportunities, financial goals, and market parameters.

Requirements

- University degree or occupational training in Navigation or Marine Engineering. A master s degree in business is nice to have.

- You have been commercially managing ships in a ship-owning, commercial pool, or chartering organization for the last 15 20 years.

- You need to be exceptionally talented in stakeholder management, strategy formulation, and implementation in the maritime sector.

- Strong and successful business development and project development experience in the maritime industry is a must.

- Demonstrated experience in driving business expansion, revenue growth, and change management in the maritime industry.

- As an experienced leader, you are familiar with corporate governance, and strict and timely financial reporting regimes.

- Deep understanding of the global trade flows, and well-developed relationships with major commodity players and pool operators.

- Exposure to technical operation and ship management is good to have but not a must.

- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
