Head of Primary

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Mentor and coach black male and female students academically and social-emotionally
• Assist students with homework/classwork if needed
• Help students created a plan for post-secondary pursuits (life after high school)
• Help with College and Career Planning
• Motivate students to do their best
• Attend weekly/biweekly meetings with team and BSSI Manager
• Attend training sessions

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Strong Mentoring Skills needed
• Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills
• Able to work effectively with others
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, a PLUS
• Candidates with a degree or working towards their degree is a plus
• Must have reliable transportation
• Patient and able to connect with students.
• Passionate about making a difference and closing the achievement gap
• Must be available Mondays-Fridays between 8am-7pm
• African Studies Major or Minor is a PLUS
• Knowledge of Black, Afro-Mexican and/or Afro-Latino History is a PLUS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2 years work experience, preferably in an educational field
• A candidate with a degree or working towards a degree is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• On occasion lift or move up to 50 lbs.
• work primarily at a computer display terminal

PAY

• $16 - $19 per hour, depending on experience and education
