This is a remote position.

Essential Functions


Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:

  1. Performs general accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.

  1. Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets income statements and profit and loss statements.

  1. Maintains the general ledger.

  1. Codes invoices sets up new accounts reconciles accounts and closes the monthly books.

  1. Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly verifies deposits and addresses inquiries from banks.

  1. Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.

  1. Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.

  1. Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.

  1. Files required tax forms with federal state and local government agencies.

  1. As appropriate coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.

  1. Consults with clients to develop a basic understanding of their financial affairs and the scope of their tax liabilities.

  1. Reviews previous tax returns and financial documents to identify missing or incomplete information or documentation.

  1. Reviews all supplied financial information for accuracy.

  1. Uses the appropriate accounting software or system to prepare tax returns.

  1. Calculates taxes owed or refunds due to client; consults tax law publications for guidance on unusual situations.

  1. Submits tax returns to accountant for review.

  1. Presents approved returns to clients.

  2. Files tax returns for clients.

  3. Maintains understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses.

  4. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a parttime hourly position with work hours expected to fluctuate throughout the year. Hours of work are flexible the business has core hours of 10:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. eastern standard time when all employees are expected to be available however additional hours can be completed at the employees discretion.


The company office is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. eastern time. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Hours of work fluctuate for this position throughout the year and may be full or parttime depending on the time of year.


Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience in an Accounting role.

  1. 2 Years of Tax Preparation Experience

  1. Possession or willingness to achieve Enrolled Agent Licensures or equivalent license.


Preferred Education & Experience

  1. 5 Years of Tax Preparation Experience

  2. Enrolled Agent License or equivalent licensures.

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  1. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  1. Ability to understand and apply tax laws and changes in the preparation process.

  1. Accurate math and accounting skills.

  1. Proficient with or the ability to learn tax accounting quickly and preparation software.

  1. Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting.

  1. Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.

  1. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

  2. Must reside in USA

  3. Ability to manage time and work efficiently in a remote environment.
