Introduction
Established under the auspices of the American Embassy in 2001 the Jerusalem American International school is a branch of The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel (WBAIS). It is an MSA and locally accredited fully independent co-educational Pre-K - 9 international school offering an American program in an International setting.

JAIS is situated in a residential area of Jerusalem in the Goldstein youth village. We have renovated classrooms and a new yard as well as having access to communal facilities such as the swimming pool and gym.
JAIS is a small warm school where every student is included valued and set up to thrive.
JAIS teachers are dedicated to student success attentive to the physical and emotional well-being of their students passionate about student learning and excited by the prospect of working within a dynamic diverse community. General Expectations
Guide practice according to the JAIS Mission Vision & Profile of a Learner.
- Experience and success teaching Homeroom with all the necessary communications with students parents and coworkers
- Excellent practice in differentiation and inclusion within the mainstream classroom for students with individual needs
- High technological comfort and competence in teaching in times of virtual school and open to using online platforms to help with regular class differentiation.
- Innovative and engaging educator - who can create excitement and interest for students as a communication tool.
- Ability to teach small groups of students with different abilities ages and interest levels.
To excel in this position an individual must successfully perform each essential responsibility in addition to the following:
- Fluency in English.
- Licensed teacher with a degree in a relevant area.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Elementary Homeroom Teacher in a school setting preference to candidates who have taught in International schools;
- Preference to candidates with a deep knowledge of the American-based standards and/ or AERO for American International school curriculum.

In the classroom:
- Experience and success in planning teaching assessing students and moving them along their trajectory.
- Excellent communication skills with students parents and coworkers.
- Ability to give feedback that directs growth for students in conversations and written feedback and reports.
- Ability to teach online in times of crisis.
- Able to be discreet with confidential and sensitive information
- Understanding of the dynamics and interplay between Learning Support needs and English as an Additional language needs in the International school setting.
- Innovative and engaging educator
- Flexible team player with excellent communication skills in person and in all media
- High professional standards in his/ her work ethic and interactions
- Enthusiasm and passion for teaching and learning
- Ability to recognize and support the educational and emotional needs of the students
- Ability to model and teach communication and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent classroom management skills
- In the school community:
- Implement the schools mission statement.
- Committed to building bridges across the various local and International communities
- Model technology integration as appropriate to enhance instruction.
- Promote a positive relationship with others sharing ideas materials experiences and expertise.
- Participate in faculty meetings peer coaching and other instructional improvement programs.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development both during the school year and during off-school months as needed.
- Support school-wide projects such as staff development and community efforts and events.
