We are seeking an experienced Proposal Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience in the Instrumentation or Electronics engineering field with a strong background in end-to-end techno-commercial proposal preparation accurate project cost estimation and competitive bidding for PLC RTU SCADA and Industrial Automation projects. The role ensures winning proposals cost control and risk mitigation while aligning with client specifications and company profitability targets.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities (Proposals and Estimation):
Proposal & Tender Management
o Preparation of technical and commercial proposals for PLC / Automation projects.
o Review ITTs RFQs tenders and client specifications in detail.
o Define project scope assumptions exclusions and deliverables clearly.
o Coordinate with sales engineering procurement and project teams.
o Ensure proposals comply with client EPC and international standards.
Cost Estimation & Pricing
o PLC / DCS / SCADA hardware
o Software engineering & configuration
o Panel design & manufacturing
o FAT SAT commissioning & start-up
o Manpower travel logistics and tools
o Optimize cost to meet target price without compromising technical compliance.
o Support value engineering and cost-reduction initiatives.
Technical Scope Definition
o Define automation architecture:
o PLCs (Siemens Schneider Rockwell etc.)
o HMI / SCADA
o Networking (Industrial Ethernet Redundancy Fiber)
DCS / ESD integration
o Prepare System architecture diagrams
o Prepare I/O summary and sizing
o Prepare BOM and data sheets
o Clarify interfaces with third-party systems (ESD Fire & Gas Telecom IT).
Commercial & Contractual Support
o Support contract negotiations with clients and EPC contractors.
o Identify commercial and technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
o Align proposal pricing with company margin and approval matrix.
Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination
o Evaluate and negotiate with:
o vendors
o Field service subcontractors
o Ensure vendor compliance with project specifications and delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities
o End-to-end technical and commercial proposal preparation for PLC SCADA and Automation projects in Oil & Gas Offshore and Industrial sectors.
o Analyse ITTs RFQs and tender documents to define project scope assumptions exclusions and compliance requirements.
o Prepare accurate cost estimations covering hardware software engineering panel fabrication FAT/SAT commissioning manpower and logistics.
o Develop automation system architectures I/O summaries BOMs and technical datasheets in line with client specifications and standards.
o Coordinate with engineering procurement sales and project teams to ensure technically compliant and commercially competitive proposals.
o Evaluate and negotiate with vendors panel builders and subcontractors to optimize pricing and delivery schedules.
o Perform value engineering and cost optimization to meet target prices while maintaining technical integrity and quality.
o Identify technical commercial and schedule risks during bid stage and propose effective mitigation strategies.
Job Specific Education & Certification
1. Professional Engineering degree in Instrumentation and/or Electronics
2. Experience with MS Excel (advanced) – cost models BOQ pricing analysis MS Word – technical & commercial proposal preparation MS PowerPoint – bid presentations and technical clarifications
3. Certification in PLC Programming and SCADA is Added Advantage
