Job Summary
The Head of Section is responsible for leading and managing a specific functional section within the Oil & Gas organization. The role ensures safe efficient and cost-effective execution of operations while meeting production quality and compliance objectives. The position requires strong technical expertise leadership capabilities and adherence to HSE and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Section Leadership & Planning
Lead and manage all activities within the assigned section.
Develop and implement sectional operational plans aligned with departmental objectives.
Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure proper resource allocation and workforce planning.
2. Operational Oversight
Supervise daily operations to ensure efficiency and reliability.
Ensure production/maintenance/project targets are met.
Optimize asset performance and minimize downtime.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Engineering HSE Procurement QA/QC).
3. HSE & Regulatory Compliance
Enforce Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe work practices.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
4. Budget & Cost Control
Assist in preparing sectional budgets and forecasts.
Monitor expenses and control operational costs.
Support procurement and contract evaluation processes.
Ensure cost-effective utilization of materials and manpower.
5. Technical & Quality Assurance
Ensure adherence to technical standards and specifications.
Review and approve technical documentation and reports.
Maintain quality assurance and quality control standards.
Support audits and inspections.
6. Team Development
Supervise mentor and evaluate section personnel.
Identify training needs and support professional development.
Promote a culture of safety accountability and teamwork.
Conduct performance appraisals and succession planning.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical Electrical Petroleum Chemical or relevant discipline).
Minimum 10–12 years of experience in Oil & Gas industry.
At least 3–5 years in supervisory or leadership role.
Strong technical knowledge relevant to the assigned section (upstream/midstream/downstream).
Experience managing teams in field or plant environments.
